Layers Clothing-Shopping Review and Giveaway

I have always been a fan of clothing designs from the 1920's to the 1940's. I love to come up with designs that pay tribute to this period with a modern twist. Unfortunately, I often find that I have little time to spend on sewing for myself-no matter how much I desire to do so.

Thanks to a company called Layers Clothing, my longing for retro-turned-modern and classic styling is no longer necessary. If the words "drama" and "creativity" describe my life, Layers Clothing has provided me with some useful wrapping in which I can tackle its pursuits.

Yesterday, I paired the Portia dress with an antique jet bead necklace from the 1920's and waltzed out of my bedroom. I asked my husband who was sitting in the living room for his opinion on the dress. He almost spilled his coffee all over himself.

If you are the type of person who thinks you must show serious cleavage or sport a super high hemline in a skirt to be sexy, you are seriously missing out. A great design is one that makes "sexy" appear to be an unconscious bonus in lieu of a desperate pursuit taken on by the wearer. The Portia dress does this is an art form. I HIGHLY recommend it and my husband obviously agrees.

I also tried out the Matilda shirt from the Winter '08 - '09 catalog. The first thing that struck me about this shirt was its softness. The material used in the shirt has a super soft, luxurious feel that you will just want to wrap yourself in. I was also taken by its versatility.
